Welcome

Thank you for your interest in this Dementia Education module. The team of contributors has developed this unit of study using an interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of persons with various types of dementia. Ethical, cultural, and family perspectives that influence the care needed by individuals with dementia are also included. Case studies are designed to provide you with opportunities to apply what you learn in this module. You may also want to explore the links and resources we recommend and continue your learning in the direction of your individual needs. We are indebted to HRSA and the Texas Consortium of Geriatric Education Centers (TCGEC) for the support made available to develop this module. After nearly 25 years as a productive member of the TCGEC, UTMB now has its own HRSA-funded East Texas Geriatric Education Center (ETGEC). We look forward to continuing collaboration between these GECs (and others), improving this module, and producing more geriatric education products through continued support from HRSA. For further information about funding and the GECs, please refer to the Contributors page in this module. To learn more about other educational programs sponsored by the TCGEC and ETGEC, please refer to the Contact Us page. |
