On-line ETGEC-C Participant Profile form now available!
The East Texas Geriatric Education Center-Consortium (ETGEC-C) has a variety of educational training tools for health care professionals, faculty and students committed to providing quality care for the elderly. Our purpose is to help enhance geriatric training for all health care professionals by utilizing innovative teaching models, and evidence based practices in a variety of learning. In addition to many web-based resources found in this website, we also offer Continuing Education credit opportunities designed to increase your level of knowledge in the care of community-dwelling elderly and older patients.

To help facilitate tracking of those who attend or view any ETGEC-C sponsored educational offering, we have developed an on-line participant profile form. This profile captures any ETGEC-C didactic, clinical educational experiences offered throughout our service area.

*Please note that you only need to complete the participant profile form ONE time each budget year (Currently July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2015) for our records. Additional 'hardcopy' participant profile forms will be made available at all ETGEC-C activities if you cannot complete the online form.

Strong Community-Academic Partnerships

Texas Area Health Education Centers East LogoThank you for visiting the East Texas Geriatric Education Center-Consortium (ETGEC-C) website. The ETGEC-C, in partnership with the Texas Area Health Education Centers East (Texas AHEC East), specializes in providing education and training efforts targeting all health professionals and students in health professions. Its purpose is to address health trends impacting older populations in medically underserved areas. These trends include changes in Medicare proposed due to health care reform, how society views aging and disease, and important updates on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.

Through the diligent work of our consortium partners the ETGEC-C has become an important resource for health providers to obtain continuing education, clinical training, and support to assure optimal care for older adults in a Texas region which is 85% rural and lacking in geriatric education opportunities.

We hope you find this site informative and useful whether you are a healthcare provider, student starting out in the healthcare field, or someone who is just interested in learning more about caring for older adults.
