FACULTY

Judith C. Drew, PhD, RN is the Joseph B. and Mary Alice Collerain Professor of Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Drew is also a Fellow at the UTMB Sealy Center on Aging. Her research program focuses on cultural variations in dementia and family caregiving experiences. Her clinical practice is in the development and evaluation of specialized dementia care units.

Christi A. Holland, PhD, RN, FNP is a Family Nurse Practitioner with clinical expertise in geriatrics both in private practice and nursing home settings. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas School of Nursing in Austin, Texas. Her research program focuses on changes in the marital relationship when spouses care for partners with Alzheimer's-type dementia and the influences those changes have on the health and well-being of the caregiver.

Luis F. Amador, MD is Assistant Professor, Division of Geriatrics, Department of Internal Medicine, UTMB. His specialty is Geriatrics. He is a Fellow at the Sealy Center on Aging.

Martha (Marty) R. Hinman, P.T., Ed.D. is the Ruby Decker Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) School of Allied Health Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy. She is also a Fellow at UTMB Sealy Center on Aging in Galveston. Dr. Hinman has treated and conducted clinical research with geriatric clients in nursing homes and hospital-based clinics over the past decade. She has also conducted numerous wellness seminars and health screenings for seniors living in the community with a focus on preventing osteoporosis and falls.

Diana Reed, SW, LCSW, ACSW, Social Work Supervisor in Geriatric Services at UTMB and Discipline Coordinator for Social Work for the East Texas Geriatric Education Center. With a B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Diana obtained her Master of Social Work degree from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis and has practiced over thirty years in medical Social Work specializing in geriatrics and in rehabilitation. She is an LCSW-approved supervisor, granted by the Texas Board of Social Work Examiners and is a master trainer in the Chronic Diseases Self-Management program.

Elicia Dunn Cruz, PhD, OTR
Assistant Professor Department of Occupational Therapy, The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston , Texas. Dr. Cruz’ research and professional practice has focused on studying and improving the health and quality of life of elders and their family caregivers. She has conducted research about how elders and family caregivers adapt in the face of age-related life changes.
